The Senior Billing Specialist is responsible for executing billing operations for a mental health practice. This role oversees billing activities, insurance claims, patient account troubleshooting, compliance, reporting, and customer service.
The position is office-based in Scotch Plains, NJ, with three in-person days per week and occasional travel to other practice locations. It has the potential to grow into a full-time role in 9 to 12 months depending on volume.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a mental health setting
- At least 2 years in a lead role
- Strong understanding of medical billing codes, procedures, and insurance claims processing
- Experience with credentialing is a plus
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to identify issues and implement solutions
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Compassion for mental health patients and billing concerns
- Ability to work independently in an office environment
- Ability to periodically travel to other practice locations to process payments and make deposits
