The Risk Adjustment Coder supports prospective, retrospective, and concurrent chart reviews using HCC risk adjustment coding knowledge to translate, input, extract, and validate medical record data. This role helps improve documentation accuracy, coding quality, and preventive care delivery while working closely with physicians and office staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Associate's degree required
- 3+ years of ICD-10 coding experience
- 3+ years of Medicare risk adjustment coding experience
- 2+ years of prospective, concurrent, and retrospective risk adjustment review experience
- 1+ year of provider education experience
- 1+ year of CPT and E&M coding experience
- 1+ year of outpatient primary care coding experience
- Knowledge of HCC risk adjustment, M.E.A.T. criteria, HEDIS codes, and NCQA guidelines
- Ability to review and validate medical records and support coding/documentation audits
- Willingness to visit providers onsite for education and chart review feedback
