The Risk Adjustment Coder performs quality assurance coding of medical records and ICD-10 diagnosis codes submitted to CMS and other government agencies.
This role is responsible for ensuring coding accuracy and proper support from clinical documentation within the health record. The position operates with broad guidelines and limited oversight, and may involve occasional provider outreach and special projects.
Training is conducted in a virtual remote classroom for the first 3 weeks. After training, the role follows a Monday through Friday schedule for 40 hours per week, within the employee’s time zone, with occasional overtime as needed.
Required
- One of the following certifications is required: CPC, CPC-A, COC, CIC, CRC, CCA, CCS, or CCS-P
- Experience in a production- and quality-driven, goal-oriented environment
- Ability to maintain annual continuing education requirements and remain in good standing with AAPC or AHIMA
- Ability to attend 3 weeks of virtual classroom training, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Time
- Ability to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime as needed
