The Trauma Registry Analyst supports the Prisma Health Trauma Program and organizational requirements for verification and designation as a Trauma Center by the State Department of Public Health and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACSCOT).
This role is responsible for all aspects of trauma registry data, including abstraction, entry, and coding. The analyst applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to identify and collect complex data related to trauma diagnoses, treatment, and quality metrics.
Data collected is used by administrators, performance improvement coordinators, researchers, and ACS surveyors to evaluate care quality, support statistical analysis, drive performance improvement initiatives, and contribute to trauma quality improvement and research.
The role requires strong critical thinking, organization, and time management skills to maintain high productivity and accuracy.
Minimum requirements
- Associate's degree in HIM or a related healthcare field preferred
- 1 year of trauma registry, coding, HIM, or relevant healthcare experience
- Completion of AAAM course for AIS coding and Trauma Registry Course within 1 year of hire
- ICD-10 coding course within 1 year of hire
Preferred certifications
- CSTR or CAISS certification preferred
- AHIMA or AAPC coding certification preferred
- RHIT, RHIA, or CCS preferred
Knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes
