Come join the Peak Health team at WVU Medicine as a Benefit Configuration Analyst contributing to the foundation for a new health plan. This role reports to Benefits Configuration Leadership and supports the mission to improve healthcare.
The position reviews, implements, and tests new plan designs, updates existing benefit plans using business requirements, and works with IT on technical solutions. The team analyzes and updates CPT, HCPC, and ICD-10 coding while maintaining compliance with CMS and other insurance governance agencies.
The role also tests and maintains benefit plan configurations, resolves configuration errors, documents changes, supports system integration, maintains code master files, performs coding and policy testing, and participates in training related to benefit design changes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in health information, healthcare, or a related field and 1 year of experience in health insurance, medical coding, claims processing, or a related field
- Or high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in health insurance, medical coding, claims processing, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health information, healthcare, or a related field
- 6 years of experience in health insurance and benefit design
Skills and Abilities
- Strategic and independent thinking
- Knowledge of federal and state insurance guidelines, including CMS requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Ability to build and retain relationships
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and multitasking ability
