The Billing Specialist is responsible for accurate billing and timely submission of electronic and paper claims, monitoring claim status, researching rejections and denials, documenting account activity, posting adjustments, and handling collections for Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care, and commercial insurance payers.
The role requires strong knowledge of payer billing guidelines and claim processing workflows, along with proficiency in billing systems to support efficient processing of hospital and professional claims. The position also involves issuing refunds when needed and assisting the Billing Supervisor with departmental training and miscellaneous assignments.
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• High school diploma or equivalent required • One year or more of experience in a similar position required • Knowledge of computer and typing skills required • Ability to work independently and remain detail oriented • Knowledge of medical terminology required • Strong working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance payer billing guidelines required • Ability to handle stress in a mature and professional manner and implement improvements when needed • Ability to lift 30 pounds and sit, stand, or walk for extended periods • Ability to use office equipment such as computers, copiers, fax machines, and microfilm reader/printers • Normal vision and hearing range, no color blindness, and good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
