Progressive is seeking a Medical Coder to support the claims process by reviewing and entering medical billing information, ensuring billing codes align with medical records, and applying fee schedules and coding rules accurately. The role also involves adjusting claims as needed and assisting internal medical representatives with coding-related questions.
This is a hybrid position with an in-office requirement of at least once per week for one year. Candidates must live within 50 miles of Progressive's Albany Claims Office at 725 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, or higher
- Coding certification, or at least 6 months of experience as a medical coder, or equivalent administrative experience
Preferred skills
- Strong data entry and telephone skills
- Thorough knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
- Knowledge of medical coding rules and local statutes
- Proficiency using the internet
- Ability to successfully obtain and maintain required state licenses
