Bartlett Regional Hospital is seeking a Medical Records Coder to join the Health Information Management team in Juneau, Alaska.

This role involves coding and abstracting medical records, supporting release of information requests, analyzing charts, and responding to phone requests while maintaining strict patient confidentiality.

Depending on level, the position may include coding molecular labs, outpatient laboratory and radiology accounts, recurring accounts, emergency room accounts, same-day surgery records, all categories of medical records, evaluation and management codes for physicians, facility leveling, and ED charge entry.

Requirements & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Medical coding experience required
- Medical Records Coder 1: 1 year of medical coding experience
- Medical Records Coder 2: 3 years of medical coding experience
Preferred: acute care hospital experience
Preferred: college-level anatomy and physiology coursework
Certification required for continued employment or at time of appointment, depending on level:
- RHIT
- RHIA
- CCS
- CCA
