As a coder, you will ensure precise communication with insurance companies so that services are documented correctly and payments are processed efficiently.
You will accurately translate patients’ medical records into standardized codes for diagnoses and treatments. Using your expertise and training, you will ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Abstract information from service documentation and assign appropriate CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS codes into billing systems while maintaining compliance with established guidelines.
- Communicate professionally with providers, practice management, and other stakeholders verbally and in writing.
- Work encounters in the coding work queue or task lists in a timely manner.
- Meet or exceed organizational coding production and quality standards.
- Apply regulatory changes and stay current with coding updates, including NCCI and MUE edits.

Required qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED in General Studies
- Minimum of two years of physician coding experience upon hire
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) upon hire
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience
