Responsibilities
Reviews, analyzes, and codes documentation for hospital inpatient medical records to select and sequence the appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnosis, ICD-9-CM procedure codes, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS as applicable to the transition to ICD-10. Primary coding responsibility is inpatient coding.
Education
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Coding certificate program (AHIMA accredited) preferred
Work Experience
- 1 year of coding experience required
- Experience in coding at a multi-facility organization and remote coding experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- None required
Additional Licenses and Certifications
- One or more certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H required
