Under limited supervision, the Specialty Coder reviews applicable documentation and assigns or validates appropriate procedure and diagnosis codes.
The role focuses on ensuring coding accuracy, compliance with billing regulations, and proper sequencing of diagnosis and procedure codes. The position requires a solid understanding of coding classification systems, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, disease processes, and surgical techniques.

Licensure / Certification
Must have at least one of the following credentials:
- AAPC-CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder)
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
- COC (Certified Outpatient Coder)
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- CPC-H
- CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder)
- RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
Additional Qualifications
