As a Clinic Coder II, you will support the financial health and operational integrity of the healthcare ministry by accurately abstracting and coding patient records in compliance with coding, billing, and data collection guidelines.
You will review medical records to determine appropriate diagnoses using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding rules, work with practice staff on MS-DRG and APC assignments, sequence diagnostic and procedural codes, validate charges against medical documentation, and help resolve discrepancies in coded charges.
This role also involves collaboration with management to ensure accurate account rectification, compliant data submission, and strong revenue cycle performance while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
Required certifications at hire:
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
- Cardiology Coding certification
- Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P)
- Certified Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Coder
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
