We are seeking a Surgical Coder for an in-office full-time position at Nebraska Orthopaedic Center.
The role supports surgical coding, claim submission, denial review, appeals, prior authorization support, and patient/billing staff communication. The position also helps maintain coding accuracy, patient confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Typical schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM. Schedules may vary depending on department needs.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding in a healthcare organization preferred
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
Skills and abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, procedures, anatomy, and physiology
- Knowledge of AMA and CMS coding rules for procedural code assignment
- Proficiency in CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Knowledge of billing practices and clinic policies and procedures
- Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness
- Ability to research and resolve a wide variety of problems
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly with clinical and non-clinical staff and the public
