Inpatient Medical Coder

INNOVA Revenue Group

Innova Revenue Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented inpatient medical coder to support accurate inpatient coding across multiple healthcare client projects.

This role supports revenue cycle operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment and requires collaboration with leadership, clients, and team members while maintaining high coding accuracy and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inpatient coding services
  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
  • Ensure compliance with CMS regulations and payer-specific guidelines
  • Review documentation for coding accuracy, compliance, and PSI-related indicators
  • Work across multiple client projects as assigned
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members regarding coding workflows and questions
  • Participate in coding quality reviews and audits
  • Complete additional coding-related projects and tasks as assigned

Work Schedule

  • Full-time remote contract aligned with client and operational needs
  • Availability required during regular business hours for meetings, communication, and collaboration

Communication and Quality Expectations

  • Respond to emails within 24 hours during the work week
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, leadership, and team members
  • Participate in meetings and collaborative discussions as needed
  • Maintain a minimum of 95% coding accuracy
  • Work is subject to routine quality audits and compliance reviews
  • Follow all client-specific and company standards and guidelines
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Current coding credential required, such as CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or equivalent
  • Strong inpatient coding experience required
  • Knowledge of DRG assignment, coding guidelines, compliance standards, and Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs)
  • Understanding of healthcare revenue cycle and billing processes
  • Ability to identify query opportunities and documentation gaps
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Epic experience preferred but not required
