BayCare is seeking a full-time remote Advanced Inpatient Coding Specialist to support inpatient coding operations for complex, multi-day, multi-specialty encounters.
This role involves accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code assignment, collaboration with clinical and quality teams, and support for physician query processes. The position is remote, but candidates must reside in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Full-time, non-exempt
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex inpatient documentation and assign diagnosis and procedure codes
- Use ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems
- Support accurate assignment of diagnoses such as malnutrition and sepsis
- Formulate physician queries and monitor bill hold reports
- Serve as a liaison to the Clinical Documentation Specialist Team and Quality Department
- Support accurate MSDRG assignments and PSI/HAC reviews
- Use anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology knowledge to support coding accuracy
- Assist leadership with mentoring and training team members and students
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required
- RHIT preferred in addition to CCS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology preferred
- 5 years of acute care experience required
- 3 years of inpatient coding experience required
