Charge Analyst, Revenue Cycle

The Charge Analyst serves as a liaison between clinical operations and revenue cycle teams by ensuring appropriate workflows and controls are established to support accurate and timely charge capture in compliance with OhioHealth policies.

This role identifies opportunities for overcharging or undercharging and supports root-cause correction by leveraging knowledge of clinical operations, documentation, coding, and charge capture.

The position supports hospital care sites as part of the Hospital Revenue Integrity Team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary site-specific resource to clinical and operational teams on daily revenue cycle functions, including charge posting, charge reconciliation, charge lag, and charge capture opportunities.
  • Engage with clinical and operational leaders to identify and address gaps in clinical and system workflows.
  • Help clinical departments document services effectively and understand the relationship between supporting clinical documentation, medical necessity, coding, and charge capture.
  • Perform daily account reviews for potential missing charges using system checks, regulatory tools, billing software applications, and billing data.
  • Share findings with clinical, operational, finance, internal audit, and compliance teams.
  • Develop educational materials and facilitate training sessions related to clinical documentation, coding, and charge capture processes.
  • Contribute to the Revenue Integrity Program by maintaining current regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Revenue Integrity.

This role requires a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree

Specialized Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of hospital or professional practice operations and revenue cycle functions from scheduling through final bill collection.
  • Working knowledge of reimbursement methodologies in an integrated healthcare delivery system.
  • Understanding of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.
  • Strong audit experience.
