Under direct supervision, the Inpatient Coder accurately codes hospital inpatient accounts to support appropriate reimbursement, research, statistics, and compliance with federal and state regulations. This role focuses on ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, abstracting, documentation review, and collaboration with clinical and auditing teams. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET, for 40 hours per week, and is remote.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training required
- Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- At least 2 years of outpatient coding experience with CCS certification, or ability to obtain CCS within 1 year
- At least 1 year of inpatient ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding and abstracting experience in a hospital setting
- One of the following certifications required: CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or CIC
- Basic knowledge of inpatient coding
