Day Kimball Health is hiring a Certified Professional Coder for its Central Business Office in Putnam, CT. This full-time day shift role supports a non-profit, integrated healthcare provider serving Northeastern Connecticut.
The role is responsible for abstracting, diagnosis coding, charge capture, posting, and record analysis. It also includes quarterly chart audits, ICD-9/ICD-10 documentation review, provider education, and participation in implementation efforts to improve coding accuracy and reimbursement.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC or CPC-H) certification required
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in coding, abstracting, and charge capture in an office setting
- Must be proficient in ICD-9 and ICD-10
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- Strong organizational, time management, communication, customer service, Microsoft Word, and Excel skills
- Excellent computer skills, including database management
- Prior experience with a government institution, managed care carrier, or physician practice processing physician enrollments preferred
