Koniag Advisory Business Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Medical Records Technician Coder IV-Lead to support its government customer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
This role supports a large-scale healthcare mission serving hospitals and clinics, with responsibility for coding and billing more than 300,000 patient visits. The position emphasizes accuracy, compliance, sound judgment, and independent work while collaborating with providers, business office staff, and health information management leadership.
The role is hybrid based in Oklahoma City. Initial onboarding and training require full-time on-site work, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. Telework may become available after demonstrated proficiency and performance, but it is temporary and subject to operational, client, business, and security needs.
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 5 or more years of experience in medical coding or health information management, or a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management plus 2 or more years of progressively complex medical coding experience.
- Completion of an accredited Health Information Management or Medical Coding program.
- Current medical coding certification such as CCS, CPC, RHIT, or equivalent.
- Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and coding conventions.
- Strong understanding of AHIMA and AMA coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with electronic health records, encoder tools, and health information management workflows.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical capability, and sound independent judgment.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working in Indian Health Service.
- Ability to mentor new staff and build effective working relationships.
- Ability to work constructively with Native American communities.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules, hospital and outpatient billing/coding practices, and reimbursement requirements.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance.
Security and compliance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier II background investigation determination.
- Must complete fingerprinting, identity proofing, credentialing, badge, and access steps.
- Must comply with HIPAA, HITECH, the Privacy Act, and all applicable IHS/HHS privacy, confidentiality, records management, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Must use only authorized systems, devices, software, and remote-access methods.
- Telework, if approved, requires a dedicated private workspace, secure equipment, and a reliable high-speed internet connection.
- Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Oklahoma City and report to the office at least twice every two weeks when telework is approved.
