Virginia Heart is seeking a Hospital Scheduler to coordinate inpatient and outpatient procedures at multiple hospitals in support of its cardiovascular care team. This role provides courteous, professional support to patients, physicians, billing staff, clinical staff, and office management while helping ensure accurate scheduling, documentation, and follow-up across multiple systems.
Key responsibilities include scheduling and updating procedures, managing surgical case files, coordinating lab appointments, distributing scheduling packets and forms, linking orders in EPIC, updating MyChart, tracking prior authorizations and insurance eligibility, producing scheduling-related documentation and reports, and assisting with training new hires.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical office experience in a multi-provider office as a hospital scheduler or medical receptionist preferred
- Strong computer and typing skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude
- Ability to multitask and stay detail-oriented
- Effective communication skills and professional phone manner
