We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join a dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will accurately code medical diagnoses, procedures, and services using established coding systems such as ICD-10 and CPT. You will ensure billing processes are precise, compliant with healthcare regulations, and efficiently processed through Medisoft. This position supports seamless reimbursement from insurance providers and attorneys while maintaining meticulous medical records.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes with precision and consistency.
- Ensure proper documentation of medical terminology and coding details within Medisoft.
- Submit accurate claims to insurance companies, law firms, and patients in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies while maintaining professional communication with payers.
- Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records in compliance with legal standards and privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
- Stay current with updates in ICD coding, ICD-10, CPT coding, and other relevant healthcare coding standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, preferably in a chiropractic environment.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, and general medical terminology.
- Experience using Medisoft for documentation, billing, and coding purposes.
- Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately for coding purposes.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of medical records management, insurance claim submission processes, and medical collections is highly desirable.
