Growing gastroenterology practice seeking a motivated Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to join the revenue cycle team.
This role supports both coding and billing functions and is responsible for helping ensure claim accuracy, timely reimbursement, and a positive patient financial experience.
Key duties include:
- Enter and maintain patient demographics and insurance information
- Verify insurance eligibility and confirm coverage details
- Code and enter charges accurately using ICD-10, CPT, modifiers, and E/M as applicable
- Post and document patient payments, and balance daily deposits
- Work claims through resolution, including corrections, appeals support, follow-up, and documentation
- Answer patient calls regarding statements and balances
- Set up payment arrangements and take payments over the phone
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certified Medical Coder, or minimum 2 years of extensive coding experience
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, modifiers, and E/M coding
- Strong understanding of end-to-end medical billing processes
- Ability to read and interpret EOBs, recognize denial patterns, and take appropriate next steps
- Solid computer skills and comfort with fast-paced, high-volume data entry
- Excellent customer service skills and professional phone presence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and proper handling of PHI
- Ability to multitask and work respectfully with patients, providers, teammates, and insurance representatives
- Ability to perform consistently to company standards and follow compliance policies and procedures
