Responsibilities include reviewing daily charges from the Electronic Health Record charge passing system, auditing encounters against appointment schedules, finalizing daily summary reports, preparing end-of-day charge and payment batch documents, reviewing encounter tracking reports, researching claim rejections, and supporting month-end requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- 5+ years of charge entry or medical billing experience required
- OB/GYN coding experience preferred
- Multi-specialty physician coding experience preferred
- Completion of an accredited medical coding/billing program preferred
- Active Certified Coder license preferred, such as CPC or CCS
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 required
- Experience with EPIC EMR and electronic charge capture preferred
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifier usage
- Knowledge of CMS billing and documentation guidelines and CCI edit lists
- Understanding of medical documentation requirements for E/M coding and office procedures
- Ability to abstract key information from the medical record for accurate coding
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- Advanced computer skills, including typing, ten-key, and common office software
- Ability to work independently and handle complex billing scenarios
