Coding Appeals Analyst

The Vancouver Clinic

Patient Financial Services is seeking a detail-oriented coding specialist to support accurate billing and reduce coding-related denials in an appeals-focused role.

This position is based at The VIC in Vancouver, WA and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and appealing coding and medical necessity denials
  • Identifying denial trends and recommending process improvements
  • Educating clinicians and staff on coding accuracy and payer guidelines
  • Ensuring timely and accurate claim submission and follow-up
  • Reviewing underpaid claims and appealing them based on payer contracts

The role may transition to off-site work after successful completion of on-site training and meeting remote-work requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferred AHIMA credentials: CCA, CCS, CCS-P, or RHIT
  • Preferred AAPC credentials: CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or other relevant specialty coding credentials
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical billing and collections or coding
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and Correct Coding Initiatives (CCI)
  • Knowledge of government, commercial, and third-party insurance contract practices and claims processing procedures preferred
  • Experience in a medical office setting with understanding of standard reimbursement methodologies required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required
  • Competence with electronic health records and Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Must live in the local Vancouver, WA or Portland, OR area to qualify for off-site work
