The Medical Biller and Coder will join the Revenue Cycle Team to support claims accuracy, denial management, coding review, and patient billing questions.
Requirements & Qualifications
Core responsibilities
- Review patient claims for accuracy and completeness and obtain missing payer information when needed
- Appeal medical insurance claim denials in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with procedures and coding guidelines
- Answer patient inquiries related to coverage denials and coding reviews for resubmissions
- Communicate with clinical leadership and third-party billing company regarding CPT and ICD-10 coding selections
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes
- Ability to identify coding trends and areas of risk
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software
- Associate degree in business, finance, health administration, or a related field preferred
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
- 5+ years of experience in a primary care clinic setting preferred
- 5+ years of related experience in accounts receivable billing, insurance, or customer service in a medical office, hospital, or call center environment
- Mental or behavioral health experience is a plus
- Experience with startups or VC-funded companies is an advantage
