The Charge Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for ensuring billing charges are captured accurately and on time. This role supports charge capture, patient encounter data entry, resolution of edits, and reconciliation of billing errors or omissions.
- Prepares and posts charges to the appropriate accounts
- Inputs patient registration information and resolves registration and charge-entry edits
- Scans and prepares batches for data entry
- Tracks and monitors charge-entry activities
- Resolves front-end edits and batch maintenance issues
- Collaborates with leadership to improve charge process efficiency and accuracy
- Monitors department queues to ensure timely processing
Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
- Medical Coding and Billing program or related training preferred
- Associate degree in a related field preferred
Experience:
- 2–3 years of operating room medical billing and coding experience preferred
- Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems required
Skills:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in medical record systems
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and CMS requirements and standards
