Dental Hygienist

Key responsibilities and qualifications

• Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
• Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, following proper technique and safety protocols.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in Eaglesoft EMR.
• Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques.
• Monitor vital signs and recognize signs of medical emergencies or contraindications during appointments.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguard patient information.
• Prior experience as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dental practice is preferred.
• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and dental coding is essential.
• Experience with chairside assisting is advantageous.
• Familiarity with dental imaging techniques and taking accurate radiographs is required.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality is mandatory.
• Previous experience in a dentistry setting is a plus.
