We are seeking a Medical Coder to join the team. In this role, you will transcribe patient records and process claims for reimbursements. You will be responsible for selecting the correct codes and assigning them to each instance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with strong people and computer skills. Experience using the Mod-Med system is preferred.
Responsibilities include coding and abstracting patient medical appointments, researching and analyzing data needs for reimbursement, ensuring codes are properly sequenced, analyzing and processing medical records, documenting any deficiencies or issues with medical records, providing education and training to other coding staff, and reviewing and verifying documentation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Medical Coder or in a similar position
- Familiarity with coding software and other computer programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized and able to problem-solve
