The role requires applying American Hospital Association and CPT guidelines, payer-specific rules for commercial and Medicaid insurance, and ICD-10-CM coding standards. It also involves working with revenue charge capture, grouper functions, billing impact, and documentation queries to support accurate coding and reimbursement.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Associate's degree required
- Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology required
- One of the following certifications required: CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or COC
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, modifier application, and coding guidelines
- Experience with charge capture, revenue codes, and payer-specific billing rules
- Ability to interpret medical record documentation across multiple specialties
- Familiarity with hospital information systems
- Understanding of M.E.A.T. criteria, HCC, and RAF concepts
