The Medical Coding & Billing Specialist supports revenue cycle operations and the patient financial experience by ensuring billing processes are accurate, timely, and compliant. This in-person role is based at the Murray, Utah clinic.
Key responsibilities include coordinating with payor relations, credentialing, clinic operations, and revenue cycle teams; resolving billing discrepancies and insurance issues; responding to patient billing inquiries with professionalism and empathy; reviewing encounter documentation; coding and submitting claims; verifying eligibility and benefits; following up on denied or unpaid claims; posting payments, adjustments, and denials; supporting appeals, refunds, reconciliation, reporting, and audit processes.
Required:
- 2+ years of experience in medical coding and billing, customer support, or data entry, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures, including CPT and ICD-10, and payor requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
- Experience with EMR, CRM, or billing software such as Athena or DrChrono
- Strong proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Preferred:
- Experience in behavioral health or trauma-informed care settings
- Familiarity with insurance verification, prior authorization, or revenue cycle management processes
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field
- Current AAPC or similar coding and/or billing certification
