The Revenue Cycle Analyst is responsible for local revenue cycle management of physician services and hospital records to ensure patient charges are complete, accurate, and properly supported by clinical documentation. This role supports charge reconciliation, documentation validation, revenue integrity, and reduction of lost charges.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing charge-generating department records to verify accurate and complete charge capture
- Validating evaluation and management acuity levels based on documented services and clinical findings
- Confirming procedure charges align with performed services and documentation
- Auditing IV/IM injections, IV fluid therapy, and supply usage for accuracy and completeness
- Identifying and processing charge corrections and additions based on supporting documentation
- Entering and deleting charges through the order entry system with supervisory approval
- Maintaining logs of charge corrections for audit and compliance purposes
- Tracking and reporting potential lost charges to support process improvement
- Providing weekly feedback to leadership on charge accuracy and documentation trends
- Supporting departmental administrative needs and revenue cycle initiatives
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
- Understanding of physician services, hospital billing practices, CPT/HCPCS codes, and charge entry workflows
- Familiarity with EHR systems, especially Athena, and basic clinical processes
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical ability
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively
- Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and compliance
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read, write, and analyze medical documentation
- Experience in revenue cycle, medical billing, or coding required
- Ability to work independently and in high-pressure environments
