Performs billing, coding, and accounts receivable duties for patient accounts. This role handles chart review, diagnosis and procedure coding, billing, payment posting, refund processing, insurance filing, and maintaining patient accounts from billing through payment. The position also supports coding error resolution, data quality, and reimbursement accuracy under federal and state payment guidelines.
High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of diagnosis and procedure coding in accordance with ICD-10-CM principles for acute care facilities.
CPC certification is required or must be obtained within 1 year.
At least 1 year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to use abstracting and coding software, a computer, and a fax machine.
Ability to read and interpret operating instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules, and to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees.
