Rio Grande Urology is seeking a Certified Medical Coder to join the team.

Responsible for accurately linking ICD-10 and CPT codes to daily charges, ensuring all charges are accounted for and entered promptly, maximizing reimbursement for medical procedures and services. Monitors coding practices of physicians and physician extenders. Participates in reviewing and updating codes regularly. Coordinates insurance denials to assist with appeals. Stays current on coding, diagnostic procedures, and federal legislative changes.

Major responsibilities include:

Coordinating with clinical staff to obtain charge information for all patients.
Coding procedures performed and diagnoses on charges.
Verifying and completing charge information in the database and producing billing.
Processing and distributing billing copies per policies and procedures.
Maintaining billing records, reports, and files.
Reviewing hospital documentation and entering billing information.
Obtaining and entering patient demographic and insurance info for billing.
Coding and entering surgeries into the system.
Complying with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Maintaining professional, courteous interactions with patients, physicians, and insurance representatives.

Qualifications:

Professional coding certification (AHIMA or AAPC) required.
Minimum 1 year medical coding experience.
Strong experience with EMR and practice management systems.
Private physician practice experience preferred.
Detail-oriented, strong work ethic, and team player.

This is an in-person full-time position located in El Paso, TX.
