As an Inpatient Coder, you will support healthcare organizations by accurately reviewing and coding complex inpatient charts. This role ensures compliance with coding standards and plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the revenue cycle. You will work with large health systems and high-acuity environments, including academic and trauma centers.
Key duties include:
- Review and assign accurate codes for complex inpatient medical records
- Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and regulatory standards
- Analyze clinical documentation to support appropriate code assignment
- Maintain accuracy and productivity in a remote, production-based environment
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve coding discrepancies and improve documentation
Requirements & Qualifications
Education and certifications:
- Relevant training in medical coding or a healthcare field
- Certification through AHIMA or AAPC
Skills and experience:
- Strong knowledge of inpatient coding practices and guidelines
- Ability to code highly complex inpatient charts accurately
- Experience working in large health systems or academic/trauma center environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet productivity standards in a remote setting
- Minimum 3 years of coding experience
- Experience working remotely
- Experience coding for large academic or Level I trauma centers is highly preferred
- Recent experience coding complex inpatient charts for large health systems
