The PB Coding Specialist II performs professional fee coding through medical record abstraction, focusing on more complex encounters and procedures. The role supports accurate capture of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier coding, helps ensure charges are properly captured, and collaborates with providers, patient accounting, and revenue cycle teams to resolve documentation, billing, and claim issues.
This position also provides documentation feedback, supports appeals and denial resolution, trains physicians and staff on coding and documentation practices, and helps maintain coding accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.
Required:
- RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or CCS certification
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
- 94% accuracy on the organization's coding test
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree or associate degree in Health Information Management from a CAHIIM-accredited program
- Previous physician coding experience
