Assures corporate coding is completed accurately and on time in accordance with third-party carrier requirements, compliance standards, and regulatory agency guidelines. Retrieves information related to the submission of claim payments for services provided by organization physicians, administrators, nursing staff, and other personnel.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Completion of, or current enrollment in with at least three full-time semesters completed toward, an accredited associate's degree program in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Health Information Administration, or a coding-related field, with intention of obtaining a coding certification; or
- High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma with certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Certified Professional Coder–Apprentice (CPC-A), plus the equivalent of two years of full-time coding experience.
Additional Notes
- Incumbents must obtain certification as one of the following within one year of appointment to remain employed:
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Certified Coding Specialist–Physician-based (CCS-P)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Required degrees must be granted by an accredited school, college, or university, or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
