Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associate's degree required
- No prior experience required
- Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) credential required
- Associate's degree may be substituted with a high school diploma plus 5 years of experience as a Cancer Registrar
Core responsibilities
- Review patient records for cancer diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and survival data
- Perform oncology coding and abstraction for reportable neoplasms
- Maintain registry data in compliance with CoC standards, SEER guidelines, and South Carolina Central Cancer Registry requirements
- Document AJCC staging for abstracted cases
- Perform data quality checks and review registry edits and reporting systems
- Support oncology conference coordination and documentation
- Maintain competency through ongoing cancer-related education
