Support the Department of Epidemiology at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine by abstracting data from prenatal, delivery, and infant medical records for an NIH-funded ECHO birth cohort study.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct medical record reviews according to study protocols
- Contact medical clinics to obtain records for consented participants
- Maintain working relationships with medical and administrative staff
- Enter study data from medical records into secure databases in a timely manner
- Adhere to strict patient confidentiality requirements
- Communicate project status to the study team regularly
- Serve as a clinical resource to other study staff as needed
- Maintain databases tracking participant consent and medical record review status
- Ensure data collection, data integrity, and confidentiality standards are met
- Perform other study tasks as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health or social sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1–2 years of experience in research or a medical/clinical environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Knowledge of research methodology, protocols, and data collection methods
- Ability to implement research and data collection protocols
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate a complex research project with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated independence, responsibility, and attention to detail
- Proficiency with computer databases and software such as REDCap, Microsoft Suite, and web-based applications
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
- Knowledge of human subjects protection and informed consent regulations
- Must complete Dartmouth IRB educational requirements upon hire
