Discusses doctor-proposed treatment plans and associated costs with patients and/or legal guardians for general dentistry patients. Informs patients of their fiscal responsibilities when applicable and assists with third-party billing systems such as CareCredit. Reviews dental records for proper coding and works closely with administrative and clinical staff.
Essential Functions
- Incorporate doctor-prescribed treatment plans for general dentistry patients with insurance and financing.
- Communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally with patients, parents/legal guardians, and clinical and administrative staff.
- Inform patients of their fiscal responsibilities with respect to their insurance coverage.
- Assist patients with third-party billing systems utilized by Dental Depot, such as CareCredit.
- Review dental records for proper coding and understand and utilize CDT codes.
- Conduct general dentistry patient recall.
- Review treatment plans with the doctor or dental office manager prior to presenting to patients.
- Prepare and deliver reports on time.
- Assist with same-day patient treatment and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Create and follow up with Medicaid pre-authorizations.
- Document financial arrangements on the Patient Financial Arrangements form.
- Respond to telephone calls promptly to establish or confirm appointments.
- Collect new patient data for insurance verification.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments as needed.
- Comply with Dental Depot policies and procedures, OSHA requirements, and HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- No prior experience necessary.
- No certifications or licenses required.
- Must be proficient with assigned computer software and equipment, including Eaglesoft and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have a valid driver's license and proof of valid vehicle insurance if operating a company-owned or personal vehicle for business purposes.
- Must complete annual Motor Vehicle Record checks when applicable.
- Understanding of insurance frequencies, downgrades, Medicaid guidelines, secondary insurance, and coordination of benefits.
- Knowledge of CDT codes and the ability to pass the bi-annual Dental Depot CDT codes test.
- Familiarity with over-the-counter collections and 10-key calculator use.
