The role supports clients throughout the reimbursement cycle by accurately assigning diagnosis and procedure codes, recognizing critical care cases, and identifying documentation that impacts reimbursement. Team members are expected to work independently from home while maintaining high productivity, quality, and compliance standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Active certification through AAPC or AHIMA is required: CPC, COC, CCS, or CCS-P.
- Minimum of 2 years of paid on-the-job experience coding various surgery types.
- Experience with EMR, billing systems, and related coding workflows.
- Reliable phone and internet access, plus current coding references such as CPT and ICD-10-CM.
- Maintain productivity and accuracy rates of 95% or higher.
- Maintain a quality score of 95% or higher.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze, make decisions, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Must maintain at least one credential through AAPC or AHIMA.
- Must follow HIPAA, privacy, security, and company compliance requirements.
