Primary purpose of this role is to code physician charges by assigning ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes, and modifiers from medical record documentation.
This level II coding position includes evaluation and management coding, radiology, and emergency department coding. The role also involves resolving pre-bill coding edits and coding denials, using multiple resources to support code assignment, and maintaining strong productivity and accuracy standards.
Performance is measured through internal audits, monthly productivity expectations, and adherence to coding rules and client-specific guidelines.
Vocational or technical education beyond high school.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of coding experience.
CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent certification.
Experience with multi-specialty evaluation and management coding.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, coding rules and regulations, third-party reimbursement regulations, and billing practices.
Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness, identify and resolve problems, communicate clearly, and work effectively with co-workers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of CCI, LCD, NCD, and other applicable coding rules and regulations.
Hourly pay of $20.51 to $30.77.
