Inpatient Corporate Coding Coordinator

Position summary

The Inpatient Corporate Coding Coordinator works under the supervision of the Corporate Coding Managers to review and resolve coding holds, second-level coding reviews, and post-coding/post-billing edit issues. The role also supports new coder onboarding, provides coding education and feedback, and assists with coding questions, audits, and department inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily DNSP reports and address coding coordinator code holds
  • Provide coders with education and guidance based on secondary-level review findings
  • Work coding and billing editor worklists within Rapid Response
  • Review DRG downgrade cases, denial letters, claims, appeal writing, and rebilling
  • Support onboarding of new coding staff and conduct system training and pre-bill audit reviews
  • Complete departmental requests from DRA, Quality, Internal Audit, and others
  • Complete working DR reviews at the end of the month
  • Help managers maintain expected DNFC targets
Requirements & Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of acute hospital coding experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to analyze coding-related reports and take action
  • Associate degree in Health Information Management
  • RHIT or CCS certification

Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a large, complex, multi-system acute care hospital organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management
  • RHIA and CCS certification
