Join a dynamic team as a Payment Posting Specialist supporting financial operations for a medical practice. This role focuses on accurately posting payments, reconciling accounts, reviewing medical billing and collection data, and helping maintain the integrity of the revenue cycle.
The position also involves working with medical claims, EOBs, denials, appeals, patient and insurance inquiries, and account resolution. The ideal candidate will help ensure accurate financial records and support efficient revenue cycle management in a collaborative environment.
Core responsibilities
- Accurately post payments received from various sources into the EMR system
- Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions
- Review medical billing and collection data
- Perform detailed account analysis and financial record maintenance
- Support revenue cycle management by monitoring payments and outstanding balances
- Coordinate with collections teams to resolve account issues
- Respond to patient and insurance inquiries related to payment postings
- Work medical claims and resolve claims issues
- Understand EOBs from insurance companies
- Bill electronic and manual claims
- Work denials from insurance companies
- Understand accounts receivable, aging, CPT, ICD-10, and modifiers
- File appeals for denied or incorrectly paid claims
- Use websites and portals to gather complete insurance data
- Locate insurance policies and communicate with insurance representatives
- Discuss claim processing and account issues with patients
- Use an electronic claim system
- Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Experience with medical billing, medical collections, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and healthcare terminology
- Experience working physician medical claims
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy
- Familiarity with 10-key typing preferred
- Knowledge of accounts receivable/payable processes, account reconciliation, and revenue cycle management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
- Coding experience or coding certificate is a plus
- E-ClinicalWorks (ECW) experience is a plus
- Must be organized, efficient, ethical, dependable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to multitask and work well with others
