Summit Spine and Joint Centers is a rapidly expanding pain management group seeking an experienced Payment Poster to join its growing team. The organization operates eleven ambulatory surgery centers and twenty-two clinic locations across Georgia and is focused on becoming the largest comprehensive spine and joint care provider in the state.
The position is full-time and involves payment posting, revenue cycle support, and handling patient and insurance account activity in a fast-paced medical billing environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
Responsibilities
- Handle insurance deposits, including manual office deposits, ERA payments, and ERA online payments
- Post refund checks to payors or patients monthly
- Post attorney deposits for personal injury cases
- Investigate and correct patient auto-pay declinations, communicating directly with patients
- Work outstanding accounts, including overpayments, underpayments, corrected claims, appeals, and denials
- Collaborate with billing staff and management to meet month-end closing deadlines
- Document issues, sources, and actions taken on each account
- Identify, document, and report denial trends to the billing manager for follow-up
- Create reports on the status of patient accounts as requested
- Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients, and providers
- Ensure claim information is complete and accurate
- Follow HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information
- Post patient payments
- Review accounts for patient and insurance credits
- Review unapplied patient and insurance payments
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payment posting or revenue cycle work in a medical setting
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial plans, workers' compensation, and personal injury cases
- Knowledge of claims submission for office visits, outpatient procedures, urinary drug screens, DME, MRI, and chronic care management
- Understanding of medical billing rules, coordination of benefits, modifiers, EOBs, and ANSI code denials
- Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical pre-certification protocols
- Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a growing, dynamic organization and adapt to change
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced team environment
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred
- Pain management experience preferred
