Become a part of Humana's caring community as a Risk Adjustment Coder supporting quality assurance coding of medical records and ICD-10 diagnosis codes submitted to CMS and other government agencies.
This role ensures coding accuracy and that all diagnoses are properly supported by clinical documentation within the health record. The position involves reviewing medical records, applying ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and identifying conditions that map to HCCs.
You will work within broad guidelines with limited oversight, contribute to special projects, and may occasionally contact providers as part of project work. The role also requires strong communication skills, professional demeanor, and proficiency with computers and digital tools.
Training is completed in a virtual classroom for the first 3 weeks, followed by a full-time Monday through Friday schedule within your own time zone. Occasional overtime may be required to support business needs.
Required qualifications
- One of the following certifications is required:
- CPC or CPC-A (AAPC)
- COC (AAPC)
- CIC (AAPC)
- CRC (AAPC)
- CCA (AHIMA)
- CCS (AHIMA)
- CCS-P (AHIMA)
- Experience working in a goal-oriented, production- and quality-driven environment
- Maintain annual continuing education requirements and remain in good standing with AAPC or AHIMA
- Ability to attend 3 weeks of virtual classroom training, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Time
- Ability to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime as needed

Preferred qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Risk adjustment experience
- HCC coding experience
